PUBLIC ACCESS STATEMENT
This is our commitment to ensuring the Grafham Village Shop is welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for all residents and visitors, regardless of physical or cognitive ability. As a community-owned asset, we strive to make our services available to everyone.
- Approach and Entrance
- Level Access: The main entrance features a level threshold/ramp, allowing easy access for wheelchair users, mobility scooters, and families with buggies.
- Doorway: The entrance door is wide enough for wheelchair access and is easy to open.
- Parking: Parking for all customers is located beside the shop.
- Lighting: The entrance area is well-lit.
- Interior Layout and Facilities
- Aisles: Our aisles are kept clear and spacious (minimum 900 mm width) to ensure easy manoeuvring.
- Flooring: The floor surface is level, non-slip, and free of trip hazards.
- Accessible Toilet: A wheelchair accessible, unisex disabled toilet with grab rails is available in the village hall beside the shop.
- Services and Communication
- Signage: Clear, high-contrast, and large-print signage is used throughout the shop.
- Assistance: Our friendly staff and volunteers will assist customers who may need help finding items or carrying goods to their vehicle.
- Payment: Our card terminal is accessible for chip and pin/contactless payments, and staff can assist with chip and signature if required.
- Special Provisions and Feedback
- Home Deliveries: For residents unable to visit the shop, we provide a volunteer-run home delivery service.
Feedback: We encourage feedback to help us improve access. Please contact one of our shop managers or any member of the Shop Committee.
This statement is reviewed every 3 years to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our community.
