Opened on 22nd November 2014, this is a convenience shop for the local community removing the need to drive out of the village or catch one of the infrequent buses.
The shop is run by volunteers who work both front of house and in the background and is supported by two part-time employees. This gives voluntary work opportunities for local residents, young & old, irrespective of their skill or experience levels and offers valuable work experience to younger members of the community whose options are currently limited in the village.
Crucially, it acts as an outlet for small local businesses to sell their products and crafts. It also functions as a central meeting point “hub”, a place for people to meet & chat with their neighbours and be a central source of information & news on the village.
We also encourage tourists & day-trippers to use the shop as Grafham benefits both from a 68 pitch Caravan Club site as well as being ideally located on the 9 mile cycle and walking route around Grafham Water, which attracts many hundreds people to the area each week, most especially at the weekends & during the summer.
